UPDATED ADVISORY: Community Groups Hold “People’s State of the City” Dinner and Rally Outside Mayor’s Fundraiser

Columbus, OH – On Tuesday, May 23 at 5:30 p.m., communities across Columbus will come together to hold a community dinner and press conference on the front lawn of the Mayor’s “Friends for Ginther” fundraiser.

Between 75 and 150 activists are expected to attend the conference, which will begin with a rally demanding Ginther and his campaign donors stop hiding behind closed doors and $5,000 plates and join the people they serve as they hold a cost-free community dinner less than 100 yards away.

Speakers from various organizations will outline the ways City Hall has continuously failed working families, Black and Brown neighborhoods, small business owners and other under-invested groups they were elected to serve.

Who: Representatives from Yes We Can Columbus, Central Ohio Workers Center, Showing Up for Racial Justice and other progressive organizations will speak to a diverse audience of activists and everyday people driven to action by City Hall’s lack of accountability.
What: A press conference demanding City Hall take a stand on the issues driving the political engagement of their voter base.
Where: 583 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH, 43215
When: 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m.
