COLUMBUS, OH-

Yes We Can Columbus stands with our Somali brothers and sisters in the wake of last night’s brutal attack on a Somali-American woman and single mother. Sister Rahma Warsame was brutally beaten by an unidentified attacker as she defended another sister, both of whom are residents of Columbus. There is no place for hatred or bigotry in Columbus, and we firmly denounce this disgusting attack.

After such a violent attack and in light of recent attacks against Muslim communities across the country, time is of the essence. There are reports the assailant has not been arrested,  and our Somali and Muslim communities are at risk.

Yes We Can Columbus calls for an investigation into this incident and for the attacker to be brought to justice. The people of Columbus demand  swift action and proactive communication from CPD  to secure safety for the community and justice for Rahma Warsame. If we claim to be an Opportunity City, then we must also be a safe city for all.
